Events that prove how Social Media disseminates information in calamities

Through Social Media, we become updated on the latest news in our society, mainly when calamities occur. It helps people become ready or evacuate as soon as possible before the calamities happen. We cannot deny that social media plays a big role in human life, for it serves as a helping hand for humans to communicate or even spread the news through sharing buttons.

There are many social media platforms in which we could become updated on the happenings that will or already occur in our country.

Through Facebook, every one of us can ask for help from other people when needed. This has happened when a typhoon hits our country recently last year, wherein one subdivision known as Tierra Verde in Batangas City experienced a high flood. The residents there ask for help to call the rescuers. Social Media helps us to spread information to others.

Twitter is one social media that serves as a service for friends, family, and coworkers to communicate and stay connected by exchanging quick, frequent messages. Through this platform, users can tweet about the updates on calamities. A person took this photo in 2020 when the Taal Volcano erupted, and BatangueƱos asked for prayers. With Twitter, users become updated on trending topics, especially when casualties happen.

With different networking companies' pages on our social media, they usually give information for people to know. The news about the Earthquake in Indonesia that happened yesterday afternoon provided fear for the residents since there is a high possibility of having a tsunami.
